Zelnorm – Stay Away From Chronic Constipation

What is Zelnorm? Zelnorm is a drug used to treat chronic constipation occurring in men and women. The other use of Zelnorm is to treat irritable bowel syndrome in women. Patients suffering from a case of constipation have fewer contractions in the intestinal muscle and that is what causes constipation. These contractions are controlled by serotonin. The active ingredient from Zelnorm acts upon serotonin and in this way increase muscular contractions.

Zelnorm is mostly used by women. It is used to treat severe constipation, chronic constipation, and irritable bowel syndrome in women under 65 years old. It may be used by men too, but the efficiency in treating irritable bowel syndrome hasn’t been shown.

 

Administration of Zelnorm:

 

- Zelnorm must be taken Under Doctor’s Prescription only.

- It is recommended a treatment between 4-6 weeks, taking two pills daily before meals

- If improvements don’t appear after six weeks inform your doctor

- Don’t interrupt the treatment with Zelnorm even if you are feeling better because Zelnorm doesn’t cure irritable bowel syndrome

- If you miss a dose take as soon as possible but if is close to the next dose just skit and return to the schedule .Remember to take it as you programmed because two doses at once are not indicated.

                       

 

Does Zelnorm affect a pregnancy?

 

- Zelnorm doesn’t affect a pregnancy or the baby in the case of breastfeeding but it is advisable to inform the doctor before take it

 

Precautions:

 

 

-          If you suffer of kidney or liver disease or acute diarrhea, tell you doctor before he prescribes you Zelnorm.

-          If  you take similar medicines or supplements, vitamins, inform the doctor before taking this medicine

-          If you are allergic to one of its ingredient you should not take this drug

-          In the case of an overdose seek medical attention as soon as possible

-          A psychological response of the treatment with Zelnorm may be diarrhea

 

The Common and Unusual side effects of Zelnorm:

 

The common side effects of Zelnorm are headache, dizziness,abdominal pain etc.

 

Other unusual side effects have been reported too. These are as follows:

 

-          visual disturbance

-          psychiatric depression, sleeping disorders: problems

-          hypotension

-          increased appetite

 

Some serious side effects have been reported. Among these are serious cardiovascular complications including heart attack and strokes are reported. So patients who experience breast chest or trouble breathing should go immediately to the doctor.

 

Storage of Zelnorm:

 

Zelnorm should be stored at room temperature, protected from sunlight and heat. It should keep out of the reach of children to stay away from danger.
